Brussels Signal Rated Right in March 2026 Independent Review

In March 2026, an AllSides team member conducted an Independent Review of Brussels Signal and assigned it an initial rating of Right.

While the outlet focuses primarily on European politics, it covers American politics too, often as they relate to Europe.

The most prevalent form of bias noticed was story choice bias. The outlet often elevated the claims of top Republican officials, namely President Trump, in headlines and in coverage.

In the final three and a half months of President Biden's term, the outlet published four headlines (including opinion and analysis) with his name in them:

During Kamala Harris's election campaign, she was mentioned in two headlines:

The reviewer also reviewed European political stories, which demonstrated a pro-conservative story choice bias as well, though this was not factored into the outlet's Media Bias Rating.

Owner: Remedia Europe

Brussels Signal is owned and published by Remedia Europe, a company founded in 2022 by American Patrick Egan. 

According to a November 2023 report from Politico, Egan founded the company with startup funds of €275,000, though he did not reveal the source of the funds.

In January 2024, Szabad Europa, the Hungarian division of American state media outlet Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, reported that Remedia obtained a loan of 174 million Hungarian Forints in 2022. Szabad Europe also reported in June 2023 that Egan had previously worked on a Hungarian political campaign for the Fidesz party.

According to Egan's LinkedIn [retrieved Mar. 10, 2026], he previously worked for the International Republican Institute, the US state-funded think tank Freedom House, NATO, and USAID.
