A new ranking by Time magazine and data-gatherer Statista gave kudos to what they say are the world’s 500 “most sustainable” companies. Someway, somehow, Uber — a company repeatedly accused of exploiting workers and diminishing public transit — made that list. The San Francisco-based ride-hailing giant notched the No. 192 spot, apparently fulfilling the rankers’ criteria of “corporate responsibility” and “sustainable practices.” To compile the ranking, Time pulled a list of more than 5,000 large and influential companies before trimming it down through a “rigorous 4-step methodology,” using “20 key...
