Pontiac City Council to vote on additional sales tax for infrastructure needs

PONTIAC — An additional 1% sales tax intended to supplement the city of Pontiac's infrastructure budget will be up for council consideration on Monday. Pontiac City Administrator Jim Woolford said the city uses a rating system for all of its streets, sidewalks, paths and trails, many of which as rated as in need of immediate repair. The city typically uses motor fuel tax and transportation renewal funds, which amount to about $460,000, to repair its streets and sidewalks.
