Man accidentally shot at Elgin home on night of Fourth of July

A man was injured Thursday night in what Elgin police are describing as the “accidental discharge of a firearm.” Officer arrived at Ascension St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin about 6:55 p.m. in response to a report of a patient who arrived with a non-life-threatening injury, an Elgin Police Department Facebook post said. The incident occurred at a home in the 400 block of South Alfred Avenue where all the people were known to each other, the post said.
