Dominion Energy wants to build a storage facility capable of holding 2 billion cubic feet of liquified natural gas next to its giant Greensville County power plant, a more than half-billion-dollar project. The aim is to provide back-up fuel for its two large Southside Virginia power stations – Greensville and the nearby Brunswick County facility – in case cold weather, natural disasters, cyberattacks or other interruptions cut or slow the flow of gas to the two plants, the company said in filings with the State Corporation Commission.
