The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality has fined a United Kingdom-based energy company for exceeding air pollution limits at its wood pellet plant in Gloster. On Sept. 10 and 11, Drax Group, which owns Amite BioEnergy, the operator of the wood pellet plant, and MDEQ announced a settlement of $225,000 for air emission violations. In the settlement agreement, MDEQ fined Amite BioEnergy for allegedly exceeding hazardous air pollutant caps of 24 metric tons per year and a methanol cap of nine tons per year during two 12-month periods in 2022...
