China responds as US ignores protest over missile launcher on doorstep
A U.S. mid-range missile launcher deployed to the Philippines earlier this year for war games will remain in the country indefinitely, the Southeast Asian nation said, despite protests from China. The Mid-Range Capability missile system, or "Typhoon," was delivered to an undisclosed location in the northern part of Luzon, the largest island in the Philippines, in April ahead of the U.S.-Philippine joint Salaknib 24 military exercise.
