Department of Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy is pushing a major overhaul of the United States' air traffic control system, warning it's outdated and under strain.
The current air traffic control system relies on aging radar and old telecom lines, and in some towers, controllers are still using a paper note system to keep track of flights.
Duffy's goal is to bring new technology into the towers, and he's looking to artificial intelligence. The Federal Aviation Administration is working with three unnamed AI vendors, testing software designed to ease congestion and spot traffic conflicts earlier, even hours before they happen...
