Trump rips 2015 Iran deal, says peace agreement 'not like the Obama document'

President Donald Trump on Monday said that Iran had committed to never possessing a nuclear weapon as part of a deal to end the Iran war, which he insisted was superior to the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

In a joint meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron, Trump called the JCPOA a "road to a nuclear weapon" and insisted his version of the deal would benefit the world by restoring commercial oil flow.

Trump withdrew from the JCPOA in 2018 and later launched strikes in 2025 on Iranian nuclear facilities. The Iran war began in late February as part of an effort by the administration to force Iran to the negotiating table...
