An independent review by an AllSides editor found Upward News had a Lean Right rating in Nov. 2024
Upward News is generally open about its conservative alignment. For example, it operates a newsletter, Redshift, which features "the latest scoops from around the conservative media world, what your favorite media personalities are saying, and who is gaining influence or losing ground."
The reviewer found news content was based in facts, though generally favored conservatives and mixed in some analysis. Content was positive of President Trump; Upward News showed bias against left-wing views on gender issues, putting trans in quotes in one headline and writing in a manner that Lean Left/Left media outlets typically would not, such as including the individual's former name and calling them "transgender-identifying": "Sarah, formerly Tim, McBride has become the first transgender-identifying member of Congress, winning Delaware’s at-large House seat."
Content reviewed included but was not limited to:
- With His Cabinet Picks, Trump Has a Superpower
- How Trump Became the Cool Candidate
- Trump May Have Officially Defeated "Woke"
- Pro-Life Has Become a Losing Issue
- The Media Still Refuse to Understand Trump Voters
- How a Wave of Minority Support Propelled Trump to Victory

Upward News Rated Lean Right in Oct. 2021 Independent Review
An Oct. 2021 Independent Review by an AllSides editor determined that Upward News has a Lean Right bias.
At the time of review, Upward News' content rejected left-wing "woke" ideology. The website included articles that were critical of the elite, left-wing/Democratic establishment, including critique of COVID-19 lockdowns and establishment views on COVID-19 treatment and policies (in an article about ivermectin, which some argued was an effective COVID-19 treatment being suppressed by elites, Upward said journalists are "politicizing potentially effective ways to treat COVID.") Upward News also ran an article critical of the concept of equity (as opposed to equality), which has been embraced among the social justice left; it also published an article critical of Big Tech's intervention on medical information, as well as a piece arguing that reverse racism is real and white people can experience racism. In general, the site publishes mostly opinion/analysis pieces that come from a right-wing view.

That’s why we started Upward News. But unlike the newer news start-ups, we do not claim to be unbiased. We claim to be fair, level-headed, thorough, and uncompromising—without ever abandoning our principled conservative values."
